Numbered 90001 to 90050 as built. Several Class 90s had their buckeye couplings removed and ETS supplies isolated for a period and were renumbered into the 90/1 series to reflect these changes carrying over their numerical identities by retaining the last two digits in that 90026 became 90126. All were subsequently returned to standard and renumbered back into the 90/0 series regaining their original numbers. Another numbering venture involved several Class 90s
that had their brake force characteristics modified and these were renumbered
into the 90/2 series, again retaining their numerical identities by retaining
their last two digits. Some of the Class 90s that had earlier been renumbered
into the 901XX number range also featured in the 902XX series once modified. All
were later returned to standard Class 90s regaining their respective 900XX
numbers. |

Numbered 91001 to 91031 as built the entire Class
was reclassified as 91/1 on refurbishment. With the exception of 91023 all
were renumbered in sequence from the 910XX number range to 911XX however
91023, a locomotive that had been involved in two serious mishaps, was
renumbered as 91132 at the end of the 911XX series. 91123 was not used. |
